An Augmented Reality (AR) experience for Coca-Cola.

An Augmented Reality (AR) experience for Coca-Cola.

Overview

As part of Coca-Cola’s innovative “TakeATaste” campaign, we developed a cutting-edge WebAR experience that redefined how consumers interact with the iconic Coke Zero Sugar brand. By blending AI-driven object recognition and immersive AR technology, the project transformed everyday refrigerators into interactive, branded portals. Users could unlock exclusive content, redeem rewards, and share their experiences—all while reinforcing Coca-Cola’s playful identity and commitment to innovation. This project offered two distinct user journeys, catering to both at-home consumers and in-store shoppers, delivering a seamless and magical experience accessible to diverse audiences in the Latin American market, particularly Mexico.

The Challenge

Coca-Cola sought to engage consumers with a WebAR experience that would integrate effortlessly into their daily lives while elevating their interaction with the Coke Zero brand. The key challenges were: 1. Designing two distinct user journeys: • At-home Residential Fridges: Using image recognition software to scan and transform personal refrigerators. • Commercial/In-Store Fridges: Utilizing a Tap-to-Place mechanic for manual interaction. 2. Ensuring the experience was engaging, scalable, and accessible to a diverse Latin American audience, particularly in Mexico. 3. Supporting the dual-language platform (English and Spanish) to cater to regional needs.

The Solution

We designed a dynamic and immersive WebAR experience that embodied Coca-Cola’s commitment to innovation and global brand identity. For at-home users, the experience utilized AI-powered image recognition, allowing them to scan their refrigerators with their phone camera. A 3D Coke-branded fridge seamlessly overlaid their real fridge, creating a magical and engaging AR interaction. For in-store shoppers, the experience featured a Tap-to-Place mechanic activated by scanning a physical QR code. This allowed users to manually position a 3D Coke-branded fridge in their surroundings, delivering a hands-on and interactive experience. The journey culminated in a reward system, enabling users to log in or register to claim a coupon for a free Coke Zero. This incentivized participation while fostering brand loyalty and encouraging repeat engagement.
